Malaysia’s passport has been ranked the second-strongest passport in the world in the Passport Index Global Ranking 2026, which measures the strength of passports based on international travel access.

The ranking marks a significant improvement for Malaysia, which was placed third last year.

According to information shared by Malaysia’s Immigration Department on social media, the achievement reflects the strength of the Malaysian passport and the level of international trust and acceptance it enjoys.

The 2026 ranking shows that Malaysian passport holders have access to 175 destinations worldwide. This includes 129 destinations that can be visited without a visa and 46 destinations offering visas on arrival. A visa is required in advance for only 23 destinations.

According to the official Passport Index website, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) holds the top position in the ranking.

Malaysia shares second place with Singapore, while Spain ranks third.

The fourth position is jointly held by 16 countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Norway.
