The Maldives Police Service will begin enforcing the Road Traffic Act through digital and electronic means seven days after the publication of an official announcement, under Article 93 of the Road Traffic Act (Law No. 16/2026).

In an announcement published by the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, the ministry said the measure aims to strengthen the road traffic system and improve enforcement of the law and regulations established under it.

Authorities will share information about enforcement actions with the relevant individuals through SMS and email.
