A US strike has hit a communications tower in the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, causing a power outage and injuring seven people, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency.
Tasnim reported that the attack targeted a communications tower on a hill overlooking the city. The agency said seven people were wounded in the strike but did not provide details on the severity of their injuries.
Preliminary images emerging from Bandar Abbas also showed signs of significant destruction following the latest round of US attacks, according to Al Jazeera Arabic.
The latest strike came as Iran reiterated its stance on the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian armed forces spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari said the waterway “will never return to what it was before the 40-day war,” accusing the United States of destabilising security in the region.
“The United States is the one working to destabilise security in the Strait of Hormuz,” he said, adding that Washington was “terrified” of Iran’s sovereignty over the strategic waterway.
Zolfaghari also urged Gulf countries not to allow the United States to use their territory to launch attacks on Iran, saying regional cooperation without US military involvement would help achieve collective security.
The latest developments come as US military operations against Iranian targets continue, with Bandar Abbas remaining one of the main focal points of the ongoing campaign.
