The Department of Public Examinations has announced that results for the January 2026 O’Level examinations will begin to be released today.
According to the department, results for both SSC and Cambridge IGCSE examinations will be available starting from 12:00 p.m. Candidates who sat for the examinations privately will be required to present their identification cards when collecting their results. If someone is collecting results on behalf of a student, both the student’s ID card and the representative’s ID card must be presented.
This year, a total of 8,218 students sat for the examinations across 267 examination centers nationwide. In Malé, examinations were conducted in 21 centers, while 246 centers were established across the atolls.
The examinations were taken by the first batch of students under the revised O’Level system introduced by the government. Students currently enrolled in Grade 10 are scheduled to sit for their O’Level examinations during the upcoming October/November session.
Last year, the government introduced changes requiring students to complete four compulsory subjects at O’Level, while also deciding to cover examination fees for those subjects. The mandatory subjects include Dhivehi, Islam, English, and Mathematics.
Maldivian students have continued to achieve strong performances in both O’Level and A’Level examinations in recent years, with increasing numbers of students securing high grades and international recognition.
